alcohol counsellor helping client sort out feelings

Terms and conditions for Desistal Alcohol Counselling.

Please read and ensure you fully understand the T&Cs before purchasing a counselling package. If any part of these terms is unclear, please contact us by email or phone.

Counselling is conducted under an agreement of mutual respect between the parties involved.

All counselling is performed online, and it is your responsibility to ensure you have a stable internet connection and the appropriate software to participate in the session.

It is the client’s responsibility to ensure they have sufficient privacy in their surroundings, and the counsellor must ensure the same on their end.

The standard duration of each session is one hour (OR 50 mins/55 mins), although the counsellors reserve the right to amend that time for therapeutic reasons.

If for any reason, you may have to attend a session after the scheduled start time, the counsellor will be able to see you for the remaining duration of the session but, unfortunately, will not be able to work beyond the allotted time.

You must also give a reasonable warning if you have to rearrange or cancel a session. This is normally 48 hours but differs between counsellors. You will be informed of this when you arrange your first session.

If you have not started your sessions and cannot agree on a reasonable time with a counsellor, you can be referred to a different person. If you cannot find a mutual time with any of our counsellors, your payment will be refunded less an administrative fee.

Any request to change counsellors will be attempted to the best of our ability.

Your Privacy

The content of what you discuss is strictly confidential and will not be shared with any persons, except in exceptional circumstances, for example, if the counsellor strongly believes that you are at imminent risk of seriously harming yourself or another person or of being seriously harmed by another person.

If confidentiality must be breached for these reasons, they will tell you and explain why they believed this to be necessary.

Safety

Desistal reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who harasses or is abusive towards any of our staff.

If you have an issue with your counsellor or the sessions, please contact us directly, and we will do our best to resolve it.
